Cordillera Ranch Up to No. 4 in 2018 Dallas Morning News Golf Course Rankings

Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course Remains Best in Hill Country; Par-3 16th Tabbed State’s ‘Best’ and ‘Most Beautiful’ Golf Hole

(BOERNE, Texas) – Cordillera Ranch – the Hill Country’s premier luxury and golf community – announces its Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course moved up to No. 4 in the Dallas Morning News Texas Golf’s 2018 ranking of the state’s best layouts.

The two-spot ascent in the annual rankings once again makes Cordillera Ranch the top course in the Hill Country / San Antonio / Austin region. Since debuting in the 2009 rankings, Cordillera Ranch has been listed among the top seven layouts in the Lone Star State, including achieving top-4 status four times (2009-2010, 2014, 2018).

Nearly 100 panelists from across Texas – PGA professionals, high-ranking amateurs, golf-design experts, golf journalists and other industry luminaries – evaluated 800-plus courses using criteria such as shotmaking, versatility, design, memorability, beauty, maintenance and enjoyment.

“The Dallas Morning News rankings are held in high regard in the Texas golf scene, and we are honored its panel tabbed Cordillera Ranch the fourth-best golf course in the state,” says Marc DeWall, Director of Golf at Cordillera Ranch. “Our staff has done a remarkable job ensuring the golf experience rivals that of the most prestigious clubs in the country.

The par-3 16th hole at Cordillera Ranch also was listed among the state’s “Best” and “Most Beautiful” golf holes in the rankings – joining an exclusive few bestowed both honors in each of the past nine years. Playing 172 yards from the championship tees (131 yards from the member’s tees), the hole features a limestone gorge with natural waterfalls fronting a small putting surface carved out of a hill. Bunkers front and back protect the green.

“When you step onto the 16th tee, it’s as if you are in a theater of golf course beauty because of the way you walk slightly down into the canyon and hear the splashing water down the cliffs around the green,” says Charlie Hill, President and Chief Operating Officer for DH Investments, developer of Cordillera Ranch. “I remind people this was primarily created by Mother Nature, and that’s what adds to the intrigue. We merely ‘peeled back the layers of the onion’ as Nicklaus said during his meticulous design of the hole.”

While membership is not required of homeowners, over 600 families currently enjoy a wealth of outdoor pursuits through its seven signature lifestyle clubs, including Golf, Rod & Gun, River, Equestrian, Spa / Athletic, Social / Dining and Tennis / Swim.
