Originally from Highland Park in Dallas, she moved to New York City at the age of twenty-one to pursue a career in the couture shoe business, while always adding to her repertoire of massage. She traveled extensively in Europe and the United States and while living in New York added Therapeutic, Shiatsu and aroma therapy to her massage practice. In 1980 Karen moved to Arizona where she studied a variety of Native American healing techniques and began her massage practice fulltime. In 1983 she returned to New York and lived in Woodstock where she studied body movement and alignment at the Alexander Technique Academy. At this time Karen began taking Yoga and concentrating on how deep breathing and stretching affects health and well-being. Returning to Texas in 1985 she discovered and fell in love with the Hill Country. Karen lived and practiced massage therapy in Wimberly, San Marcos, Austin and finally settled in Boerne. Karen also added Myofascial, Cranio Sacral, Sports Massage, Hot Stone, and other modalities to her practice. She is continually learning new ways to relieve pain and discomfort using alternative methods of healing the body to balance, align, and relieve the tension that causes stress, discomfort and disease. |
