Safety, Etiquette & Release Agreement

In an effort to keep all of the Members and their guest’s safe in the pursuit of their equestrian interests, you are asked to follow the policies that have been established for the   Equestrian   Center   . All patrons of the Equestrian Center are required to sign a Release Agreement.

Barn Etiquette & Safety

PLEASE FOLLOW:

·        Long pants and closed-toed shoes are required for riding club horses (Boots and jeans are recommended for additional safety and comfort)

·     Children under 18 years of age must wear an ASTM approved helmet at all times, including on the ranch trails and on their own horses. Helmets are recommended and available for all riders, regardless of age or experience.

·         Children under the age of 13 years old must be under adult supervision at all times. In the case of a lesson, the trainer will be considered adult supervision until the lesson is finished.

·         No smoking is allowed anywhere except in personal vehicles.

·         Keep to a walk around the barn and arenas on horse or on foot.

·         Do not ride horses on cement walkways.

·         Do not allow dogs to run loose around Member or Trail Horses, one never knows how a horse will react to a dog and may endanger riders or handlers.

·         Only tie horses to cross ties, hitching posts or interior stall rings. Do not tie horses to paddock fencing or with hindquarters facing into the barn aisles.

·         Sweep debris out of grooming area when done and keep grooming tools to the side in the event that other boarders may need to use the grooming area while you are riding.

·         Clean up manure in the barn area as soon as possible. Designated manure carts will be available. Trash and Recycling Containers are provided in the barn.

·         Horses should be loaded and unloaded in designated areas.

·         Refrigerators are provided in both the barn kitchenette and the lounge room. The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch will stock refrigerators with refreshments for honor system purchase by Members and their guests. Fill out the chit and leave it in the box above the refrigerator and the charges will go on your member account monthly.

·         You may store personal beverages and snacks in the Lounge refrigerator. Mark your personal items and be respectful of others personal stored items. Do not store medications or horse treats in this refrigerator. If you have a need to store medications or horse treats, please make arrangements with the Equestrian Manager.

·         All horse food or treats should be stored in airtight / rodent proof containers and should be stored in the feed room. Do not store food items in any of the tack rooms.

Trail Etiquette & Safety

PLEASE FOLLOW:

·         Always stay on designated trails and respect the private lots and open lands of your neighbors.

·         Refer to the Cordillera Ranch Trail Map for trail designations, distance and terrain.

·         Children under the age of 18 must wear an ASTM approved helmet while riding on the Cordillera Ranch Trail System. (Helmets are recommended and available for all riders).

·         All riders should ride with a companion on the trails.

·         All riders are required to report their trail plan to the Equestrian Center Manager and should take a Club radio in case of an emergency.

·         Check with Equestrian Center Manager for trail conditions.

·         Report any unsafe conditions or needed trail maintenance.

·         Do not canter or gallop up to groups of riders on the trail.

·         If you want to move out at a faster pace, ask everyone’s permission. If someone is not comfortable with the idea, do not ride out.

·         Maintain a safe distance between horses on the trail.

·         If your horse kicks, you should place a red ribbon on his tail or verbally warn others.

·         Always ride your horse under control for everyone’s safety.
